Wake Back Wake Front Wake 360

Hit the wake forward and land backward

This trick is usually used to get into position to perform some of the 'Air' tricks so it is important to do it correctly.

The wake back is probably one of the easiest wake tricks to execute. To prepare for it I would recommend that you do some wake jumping to get used to taking off on the up side of the wake and landing on the down side.

Rope length and boat speed: I use a 14m line at a speed of about 20mph. Use what you feel comfortable with but make sure you can jump from one side of the wake to the other without too much effort. If you use a slower speed you may need to shorten the line more.

When you have got the hang of the wake jumping do some surface 180's to get used to going into the backward position. Remember to use a palms down grip on the handle to do this trick.

Ok, you DO NOT need a lot of speed into the wake to do this trick, a nice steady cut will give you enough, but just hard enough to make you land on the down side of the wake. You can use the techniques described in the how to get air tip.

Cut out from the wake and flatten off. Then as you begin to drift in, start your cut to the wake and make a good pop from the top of the wake. When the board leaves the water, pull the rope in to your hip and turn your head to look over your shoulder in the same way as completing the surface 180.

If you approach the wake from the left, when you are on the left side of the boat, pull the handle into your right hip and turn your head to look over your left shoulder.

If you come from the right, when you are on the right side of the boat, pull the handle to your left hip and look over your right shoulder.

When you reach the backward position in the air, keep on looking backwards at the horizon until you land. You should land on the down side of the wake and the boat will pull you back round to the forward position.

The key to doing any spinning trick is pulling in on the handle and turning your head round hard to look over your shoulders, this gives you your rotation. The harder you pull the handle and turn your head the faster you will spin, and remember, once you can do one side, do the other!
